Some thoughs on the Ron Paul supporters march on Washington D.C.

Posted by Brian Bailey on February 12, 2008

There must be considerable forethought put into the plan.  Here are some suggestions:

  • DO NOT alienate people by using narrow themes. The theme must be inviting to everyone in the Revolution.
  • Choose the best date possible.  If there is a government holiday with a 3 day weekend, use it.
  • Pick the right venue.  We need a monumental location for a monumental event.  Follow the proper channels to arrange the march and rally legally.
  • Build a good looking website with lots of good information and tools for people to get involved.  Some of the amateur websites we’ve used in the past served their purpose but these should be used only as place-holders while others in the Revolution with the proper skills make a stellar website.  Remember, most of the people involved in this will only be involved over the internet right up until the big day.  The website needs to be robust.
  • Do not verbally attack the media or political establishment.  Do not let them frame this as a group temper tantrum.  We are peacefully and intelligently defending common sense and traditional American values.  Make noise, but make it politely.
  • Do not fight amongst yourselves.  It wastes time and is counter-productive.  If it looks like you won’t be able to plan the part of the event that you would like then think of something even better and make it happen.  Let the free market decide.
  • A good name for the event is very important.  Again, it must be appealing to everyone.  For example, Revolution March is bad and Freedom March is good. Ridiculous as it seems, I know I will see some of these, but do not for one second consider anything like The Million Paul March, Paul’s March to the Sea, or The Ron Paul Supporter Bomb.  You can give the march a stupid name as long as you only want stupid people to show up.
  • Give serious consideration before deciding to use a number of supporters in the goal or the planning, such as “million” or even “thousand”.  There are pluses and minuses to setting a goal like that and we must consider what other people and the media will make of it.
  • Have fun!

Don’t call it a march - call it a rally. The Liberty Rally. A march on Washington sounds like controversy - we don’t to be marginalized anymore by comparing us to the civil rights marches of yesteryear - we need a conservative message, but a progressive approach.

It is also important to make this more than a Ron Paul moment. this should be an event which celebrates LIBERTY.

If we could get prominent public speakers who can make the case for liberty and financial responsibility (Peter Schiff, Micheal Badnarik, Napalitano? ANYONE who has a strong public image - we need our own Oprah moment. certainly someone in the conservative wing, a former Reagan staffer, former CIA agants speaking about blowback, military officers and vets talking about the war… get a cross section of the population and get in front of a microphone for 10 minutes. They could each end by saying “that’s why i support Ron Paul for President”. Get it on CSPAN live all day - or some other cable channel, plus local radio and TV stations.

What about a virtual march to go along with the actual march by feeding satellite television to a big screen at the march - Live video feeds from major city rallies the same weekend.

Have related events - like a fair - showcasing the constitution, the Gold standard, The truth abouth the FED and Income Taxes. show freedom to Fascism at a local theater the same three days. In other words MAXIMIZE and be CREATIVE. there is plenty of time to do it right and make a HUGE impact at the right moment. How about 4th of July?

I will personally volunteer to help in this effort if anyone is interested. My background is Marketing and Promotions. Think this through and let’s get someone to manage this event so it doesn’t just look like were throwing stuff up to see if it sticks. We need a LIBERTY WAR PLAN!

March 20th… the first day of Spring…

The “Spring Forward to Freedom” Rally

    Whatta you think?

March 20th is probably too soon to get everyone on board and raise the cash - plus we need to let McCain self-implode for a few months and get past everyone wetting themselves over Obama. Hillary is melting, and Pastor Pile will probably run out of cash or get a gig playing bass so that gives the public time to get more depressed or delusional, the economy can tank a bit more, gas prices will be rising just about then and POW! - the Ron Paul Freedom Festival enters with great weather and lots of music, fun and a spotlight on how Ron Paul was right! People will listen then.

Timing is everything - again it’s a strategy not just an attempt.

  5. Don’t call it a march, call it a CONVOY!

Can you not visualize caravans of motorcycles, cars, trucks, buses, and Recreational Vehicles all traveling from all points of the U.S.A. to Washington DC?

Will not make a statement as it goes through each state?

Will that be something the mass media will be able to avoid? Should they avoid it, the people will not. They will see it!

We could even mound all-weather megaphone speakers under the hood hooked up to a microphone in order to announce our message and ask others to join us in our peaceful celebration in Washington, DC.

Let’s go in convoys, celebrating our new freedom and our new soon-to-be President, Ron Paul.

Our joyous celebration will show everyone, including Ron Paul and the Republican Party, that we mean business, that he has the support, and that if the Republicans do not want him, we are ready to form a third party to draft him into.

We have spend much time, money, and energy into this to let Ron Paul get away from us and his responsibilities to our nation. Our nation is the one that needs Ron Paul, not Texas.

To me it looks like this is the only option for him. If he did not win with our own third party, he would be more valuable to our nation as a paid professional speaker with speaking engagements galore. He would make more money as a professional speaker than as a congressman or as President of the U.S.A.

  6. Memorial Day - ” Hope for America Rally” Music - Speakers - Comedians. Dr. Paul says “Are we having fun?” Well,I sure could use some fun and a laugh and I think the rally should have a very positive theme. That the future could be very bright if Dr. Paul platforms was carried out “Peace, Prosperity, Freedom” I realize things are very bad but unless there is a positive spin on this it will be like attending a funeral. Our soldiers have died so we can realize a better tomorrow. A chance for world peace, friendship and trade with all people and nations.
