Ron Paul attends event to endorse five Maryland candidates

Posted by Brian Bailey on October 10, 2008

(Hello again, everyone.  I’m going to start posting some news again and see if people are interested in reading it.  Let me know if I’m posting things that you would have found without me pointing them out.)

The candidates Paul endorsed have been mentioned quite a bit on liberty-minded blogs.  They are Richard Matthews, Mike Hargadon, Peter James, Steve Hudson, and Collins Bailey.  Bailey, you’ll recall, is running against House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer.

Two interesting bits: Matthews is using new campaign signs reading “Richard ‘No Bailouts’ Matthews,” (clever and, I’m assuming, effective) and Bailey pointed out that “Congress has a 9 percent approval rating and that’s lower than the British had during the time of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.”  One wonders where he got that number from.  Regardless, it sounds like he has a good handle on crafting campaign one-liners.

Finally, asked what it takes to receive his endorsement, Dr. Paul replied,

“It’s not that complicated, you know, they’d have to agree with me on personal liberties and privacy.”

I find it amusing that members of the media still find it necessary to ask these superfluous questions of Paul.  After a few years did people continue to ask MLK what he stood for?

  1. Hey! So good to get a mailing from the Paulunteer - please keep them coming! I do not have as much time to sit in front of the computer and dig for articles as I did a year or so ago (has it really been that long?!?) so the newsletter was welcome!

I think the media keep asking Ron Paul for his position, hoping that someday he will indeed turn into a pandering flip-flopping politician like McCain and O’Bama - and the day he does it will indeed be a newsworthy event because that is the day Satan will have to put on his ice skates!
